A company with no branch or office in Spain needs a NIF starting with N before it does anything with tax consequences here. With a branch or permanent office, the NIF starts with W. We handle both.
The Land Registry will not register the deed unless it shows the NIF of every party, including the company that buys.
Spanish registrars ask for the NIF of foreign shareholders when a company is set up or its capital changes.
You need a NIF to register for Spanish VAT. Companies from outside the EU usually need a tax representative as well.
Any operation with tax consequences in Spain requires a NIF, even without property or staff here.

Spanish law requires companies, including foreign ones, to receive Tax Agency notices electronically. A notice left unopened for 10 days counts as delivered, and the deadlines start running. We obtain your company’s first digital certificate and activate its mailboxes, so no notice goes unread.
Royal Decree 1363/2010, which lists companies without Spanish nationality among those obliged to receive notices electronically, and Law 39/2015, article 43.
Tell us by WhatsApp or email your company’s name, its country and what the NIF is for. Within 24 working hours we confirm whether you need an N or a W and send you a fixed quote.
We send you the power of attorney in English and Spanish to review with your notary. The director signs it with a copy of their passport, in a single document, and you get it apostilled.
The apostilled power of attorney and your registry extract, also apostilled. If you want, we order the sworn translation of the extract. Then we prepare form 036 and file it online with the Spanish Tax Agency.
Once the NIF is issued, we obtain the company’s first digital certificate, in our name as its representative, and activate its electronic mailboxes. Then we act as your tax representative for a year and explain every notice.
Typical timing: one to two weeks for the NIF once your file is complete, and a few more days for the certificate. The apostille and the sworn translation usually take longer than the filing itself, and the Tax Agency’s timing is outside our control, so start well before your signing date.
Both apostilled. We send you the power of attorney ready to sign; you just review it with your notary.
The director signs our power of attorney before a notary, together with a copy of their passport, in a single document. That document gets the apostille.
ApostilledA recent extract from your company registry, such as Companies House, KvK, Handelsregister or Kbis, with its apostille. It needs a sworn translation into Spanish: we can arrange it for about €100–150, depending on the number of words.
ApostilledIf your country is not part of the Apostille Convention, consular legalisation is used instead. We will also ask who owns the company, as Spanish anti-money-laundering law requires.

N is for foreign entities that operate in Spain without a permanent establishment. W is for permanent establishments, such as a branch. We tell you which one applies in our first reply.
No. Everything is done with a power of attorney and online filing. Your directors only need to sign the power of attorney before a notary in their own country.
Not necessarily. Whoever signs the application as representative needs a Spanish tax number, and we can be that representative under the power of attorney. If a director wants a NIE anyway, we apply for it: €400, or €800 together with the company’s NIF.
Usually one to two weeks once the file is complete. The apostille and the sworn translation tend to take longer than the filing. The Tax Agency’s timing is outside our control, so start well before your signing date.
For twelve months we are your company’s representative before the Spanish Tax Agency: we keep an eye on its electronic mailbox and tell you what each notice means and what to do. We also file the tax forms your company has to submit that year. Answering formal requests from the Tax Agency is not included: if one arrives, we quote it separately.
Companies, including foreign ones, must receive Tax Agency notices electronically, and a notice left unopened for 10 days counts as delivered. With the certificate your company can read its mailbox, file and sign online. The first one, in our name as your representative, is included in the €500.
The one included in the €500 is issued in our name, as your company’s representative. If a director wants one in their own name, we arrange it for €100 + VAT. It requires a NIE and is not usually necessary.
No. The apostille is issued in your country, so you arrange it there with your notary. What we can arrange is the sworn translation of the registry extract.
Nothing renews automatically. Before the year ends we send you the price to continue, and you decide.
Usually not, if your company is a business established outside Spain. We confirm it before invoicing.
Yes. The procedure is the same; only the documents change from one country to another. We work under the common Spanish tax system: if your operation is in the Basque Country or Navarre, ask us first.
